One of my favorite Christmas carols asks this question again and again. One line captures the essence of Christian faith: “Mary did you know, when you kissed your baby boy, that you touched the face of God? “ The very center of Christian faith is that the one God of the universe became flesh in a Bethlehem stable 2000 years ago.
Beautifully written, Ron; thank you for highlighting this carol! During the eleven years Kevin & I sang in the Oakdale Community Choir (until the pandemic), "Mary, did you know?" was a carol often requested by the incarcerated men. ("Silent Night" seemed to be the top favourite--in English & Spanish.) Joy to you & Arbutus this season and always!
