I am sorry the name "Evangelical" has become so toxic. For much of the 1800s it stood for abolition and social reforms. Now, when most people hear the name, all they can think of is Donald Trump supporters and Jerry Falwell Jr.

I could weep.

the name change does not go far enough. it has too narrow a definition of christianity. the 'historic christianity was according religious historian charles freeman something tha was imposed by the emperor theodosius in the forth century c.e in order to suppress the views of arius that represented the real threat to the roman empirer.the nicene cred according to him was forcibly imposed on the christian church also princeton university professor and macarthur grant recipient elane pagels has argued that "historical" christianity was only one of many views in the early church,

Under the definition of christianity given by csa some of the great figures in modermn christian history would not qualifhy. people like frederich schleiermacher harry emerson fosdick paul tillich

and today john shelby spong. further thge vast majority of mainstream new testament scholars no longer believe in jesus bodily ressurrection isn't also time we retire the doctrine of the substtutorary atonement. most mainstream theologians regard as sick and sadistic. rebecca parker in her book saving paradise argues that it was imposed on the christian church in the eleventh century to build support for the crusades.

Also christian exclusivism is insensitive to people of other faiths viewing them only as objects for conversion

The vast majority of people in the pews and increasingly the pulpits of mainkine churches no longer accept "historical" ' christianity. Do you want to write them off ?

a beeter definition of christian would be one who follows the moral teachings of jesus npo matter what they believe or even if they believe in God

As a Catholic who just found out about you and your work, I appreciate the name change so as to include a broader range of Christians who may not identify as Evangelicals! Thank you!
